Easy Holiday Decorations for Small Spaces
Given our smaller space this year, I wanted to keep things simple. That included a treeless year. We don’t have kids & as much as I love tradition, I’m not married to it. Plus, (hopefully we’ve moved by next year) it’ll give us something to look forward to next year.
In a small space, a couple of strong elements is all you need. I went with natural elements like natural greenery & brown paper wrapping and with a little pop of color (vintage ornaments & ribbon). I always start with a Pinterest Board and then narrow the ideas down.
Here are some of my holiday 2018 inspiration from my Pinterest board.
I always decorate our home in real greenery. Since we literally have no extra surface space, I decided to hang garland from our living room beams.
Pro tip: Buy standard garland from Home Depot or your nearby grocery store & add in sprigs of various greens for depth & texture.
*Works on fake garland too!
This year, I bought two types of eucalyptus branches/leaves at Bristol Farms & a 15’ garland from Home Depot. (Total cost: $30) I used all my blue, white & silver vintage ornaments to hang on the garland.
Decorating with Garland:
Hang & secure the garland first. (green wire & screws)
Wrap the lights around garland. (battery operated lights)
Snip the branches & leaves.
Remove bottom leaves for stems to insert into garland.
Add in the sprigs for texture.
Lastly, hang the ornaments.
Honestly, sometimes I even forget to go in this order.

My other element of decor in the common space was a simple mini Norfolk Island pine tree. I found these amazing vintage ornaments this past summer and with no tree this year, I was in search of a way to use them. This is my new favorite
I picked up this plant at Home Depot ($15). It’s max. 20”. I replanted the Norfolk Island pine tree from the store bought plastic container into an empty Ikea pot from my shed. Added a couple vintage bulbs and done!

Lastly, I love forcing Paperwhite bulbs around the holidays. More to come!
